What is hypnosis
Have you heard of Hypnotherapy and find yourself unsure what to expect? Do you fear you are going to lose control or someone else will take control of you? Are you afraid that you will be made to cluck like a chicken or sing Copacabana on cue? Well, modern day hypnotherapy is, of course, not like this at all. I am not a stage hypnotist. You are in control the entire time and your mind will never do anything it does not want to do.
So what is hypnosis? Putting it simply, it is the act of being brought into a state of trance. Now, this may sound scary. However, what if I told you that we all go in and out of the trance state several times a day. We go into the trance state when we are watching a really good movie, when we are engrossed in a book or when we are driving the same route we have driven many times.
Most people relate to this example having experienced the feeling of getting to our destination and not really remembering the journey we have just taken. This is the trance state and is a very normal state of mind. Hypnosis is the contrivance of this trance state and we use this state to engage the brain and encourage a different way of thinking, so you can gain more intellectual control.

What I love about solution focused hypnotherapy (apart from the fact it really works!) is the neuroscience behind it all. As a solution-focused hypnotherapist, I will provide all clients with an in-depth explanation of how the brain works and what we can do to change our way of thinking and improve our minds. This in itself is extremely beneficial to you, the client, as you will understand your own mind better and have several penny-dropping moments. It will make complete sense in relation to some of the challenges you might be facing.
Because we are solution focused we will be concentrating on the solutions and not the problems, so we will not be moving back at all, it’s all about the movement forward. You can’t see where you are going if you have one eye looking back! You will never have to revisit old problems.
